What are the Ways to Open a PUC Center?

- A workshop authorized as a vehicle manufacturer, with a workspace of at least 400 sq. ft. for testing emissions of two and three-wheelers. For testing four-wheelers, the workspace must be at least 1000 sq. ft., or
- When an individual or a firm wants to establish a PUC center, a minimum area of 200 sq. ft. is required. Additionally, there should be space for parking to avoid traffic jams and inconvenience to the public.
Qualifications for a PUC operator

- The person should hold a certificate in motor mechanics, auto mechanics, diesel mechanics, or automobile engineering from a recognized institute of learning.

- Apply for permission at the RTO (Regional Transport Office).
- Apply at the nearest RTO division based on your address in your identity proof.
- Submit an affidavit along with your license application, clearly stating the terms and conditions.
- Obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from local authorities.
- The application fees depend on the state where you are applying.
- Apply through the central government portal on the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways website. Fill in details about the center, the PUC operator, and your state. Choose your nearest RTO office, and the portal will generate an application number for you. Complete the form and upload the necessary documents to easily obtain the license.
